The sawtooth wave is an asymmetric periodic waveform widely used in PEMF. It features slow linear voltage shift followed by an instant sharp transition. Its shape matches saw teeth, hence the common industry name. Sawtooth waves work well for applications requiring strong but uneven stimulation.
Every full sawtooth cycle follows this fixed pattern: linear voltage rise or fall from minimum value to maximum value, then instant jump back to the starting baseline voltage level. Two mainstream sawtooth configurations exist for PEMF equipment: Ramp Up for slow rising edge + sharp falling edge, and Ramp Down for sharp rising edge + slow falling edge.
Sawtooth waves contain all odd and even integer harmonics. Amplitude reduces slowly as harmonic frequency values grow higher. Rich harmonic content delivers strong biological stimulation in PEMF mats.
